I thought I saw you the other day,
I turned to smile at a stranger in my way.
I felt your breath brush against my cheek
As I caught your perfume pass me in the street.
I still hear your laugh, I can see your eyes
Reflected in the glass, a light that never dies.
I feel you live in the tapping of my hands
A passed on gesture, the unresolved plans
Of your prayers for us, only just begun,
As you live on in me, you live on in my sons.
So I let go of the pain for today, for a while,
And I turn to that stranger and I give them your smile.
